This image taken at One King West Hotel is a traditional wedding photograph of the bride and groom accompanied by the bridal party.
While weddings are fun and good opportunities for families and friends to meet and have a good time, the formal photos are also important in the wedding flow. The group photos are dreaded by many wedding photographers. Even some of the best wedding photographers in Toronto confessed they dislike group portraits but I love them. How many times does one get the chance to photograph large groups of people looking so well and being in a good mood like during a wedding?
Also, the group photos are sacred to me as they document the presence of family members who, unfortunately, might not be among us in a few decades. At the end of the day, in 30 years the couples will not necessarily cherish the stunning wedding pictures I took during the bride and groom creative session but rather the traditional and candid photos of their family.
As such, I always make sure the timeline allows enough time for family photos and give the bride and groom wedding tips on how to have excellent wedding photographs.
To illuminate this image I used a Profoto B1 strobe diffused through a translucent umbrella.
