After I shot the groom's preparation, it was the bride's turn. This album spread was dedicated completely to the bride's preparation for her Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe wedding. The left image shows a stunning bride looking in the mirror and playing with her hair. She is obviously very pleased with what she sees. To create this image, I used a medium telephoto lens and shot over the bride's shoulder. Although all three images are important, the one on the left shows the bride after her makeup and hair were done. While it is chronologically inaccurate, placing the most powerful image on the spread on the left gives the collage more punch.
The second image going clockwise shows the bride getting her makeup done. More specifically, in this shot, the makeup artist creates a lips contour while the bride is looking in the mirror.
Finally, the last image on the spread shows a smiling bride looking in the mirror, while her best friend is doing her hair.
We need to be honest here. While they are strong images and obviously necessary to tell the story, none of this images will win any photography awards. However, as a wedding photographer I realized that I don't shoot for awards, but for my clients. My main goal is to deliver a strong visual essay of the wedding day and not necessarily create individual masterpieces.
