Back of Gown at King Edward Hotel Wedding

Before the wedding ceremony, I had the opportunity to spend about one hour with the beautiful bride and take a few portraits of her. This is one of them. Its uniqueness consists in the fact that you cannot discern the bride's face. You rather guess or discover it if you want. That increases the mystery of this photograph.

The emphasis in this picture is on the white dress and the crimson red at King Eddie creating the perfect backdrop for this portrait. The light is coming from the right and gives the dress texture and dimension. The gorgeous bride picked a gown with an open back in the falling veil accentuates her beauty. She carries her bouquet in her right hand and turns her head towards the light.

This is one of the last images I captured before the wedding ceremony is running out of time and the bridal party were anxious to head to the church. I particularly love the way the light falls on to the dress, the brides pose in the romantic mood of this image. It is what you would call a low-key photograph or the Italian painters would call chiaroscuro. The interplay between highlights and shadows harmoniously completes this beautiful image.

After capturing this portrait, I headed to the second room of the bridal suite and started taking some family photos. During the cocktail hour and the reception in the crystal ballroom we took plenty more images of the family and guests. The crystal ballroom is one of the most sought after wedding venues in downtown Toronto and the GTA.
