Bride and Groom Walk Towards King Edward Hotel

After a beautiful photo shoot, we went back for the wedding reception in the the Crystal Ballroom at King Edward Hotel.

I love capturing candid moments between the bride and groom and whenever have a chance, I asked them to spend the moment together pretending I have change lens. That gives the couple an opportunity to be themselves. In this situation, I told the couple that we should have back to the hotel and I took a few steps in front of them. During this time, my second shooter was holding my bag, and I was hoping to get a reaction from the couple. My patience was rewarded when the beautiful bride looked at the love of her life and gave him the most beautiful smile in the world.

While this is by no means an award-winning photograph, the beauty of the moment makes it special to the newlyweds.

Composition

In terms of composition, this is an asymmetrical photograph. The newlyweds are the clear subject of the image and they are positioned alongside the right vertical line in the rule of thirds grid. The sidewalk forms a leading lines towards the subject and the incoming sidewalk from the left creates the second leading line. All the above emphasize the importance of the couple in this image.

Equipment

A few years ago I took a leap of faith and switched from Canon to Fuji. This particular image was captured with the Fuji XT2 on which I mounted a 35mm equivalent lens.

Post Production

In terms of post processing, I used one of the Mastin Labs filmic presets that emulates the Fuji 400 h film.

Here's a quick slideshow that captures the beauty of this wedding day.
