This is a photograph I took during the bride and groom preparation and minutes before we headed out for the next step of the wedding day at Chateau le Parc: the first look.
After the bride had her hair and makeup done, she went to her room to read a letter from the groom and to get dressed into her wedding gown. We, the wedding photographers, were waiting eagerly to see her emerge from her room upstairs. When that happened, we told her bridesmaids and occupied the position at the bottom of the stairs. It was from there that I was able to capture this photograph of the beautiful bride descending the stairs. She smiling, obviously thinking of the big day ahead of her.
The scene occurred closed to noon and when the girls opened the main door, a wave of extremely bright light washed the entire room and the beautiful bride. Sometimes, in wedding photography you get lucky and this is the case where nature collaborated, helping us create this beautiful picture. The direction of light bounced around and illuminated the bride's face. The main door became a huge soft box generating a high quality light.
The original composition features the bride in the upper side of the frame. The stairs rail is creating a leading lines towards her which emphasizes her presence. The image has an airy, dreamy feel and it is very appropriate for the wedding photography style many couples love.
