Generally, during the big day I take pictures of the bride and groom, their family and guests rather than decorations. However, in this case the beautiful bride asked me to pay particular attention to the wedding venue and decor because she wanted her special day to be published in one of the most prestigious wedding magazines: Wedluxe.
As such, during the cocktail hour I asked my second shooter to take candid photographs of the guests and I focus solely on capturing the beauty of the event space and the decor elements.
Here you can see a photograph of an artistic cake, one of the bridal party tables and one feather adorned centerpiece. What makes this image interesting is the interplay between the light and shadows. The event space has one of the most sophisticated lighting systems in the GTA a can see it in action here. Some parts of the frame look like they're painted with light while others remain in relative darkness. Here, the beautiful cake is lit, along with the luxury centerpiece.
On the table, we can see two rows of candles creating a diagonal leading lines towards the cake. The image is balanced the asymmetrical and the composition is dynamic despite of the static nature of the décor.
