I have a confession to make: this is one of my favourite weddings I did it this beautiful hotel in downtown Toronto. King Edward Hotel is the event space in the GTA that is closest to my heart and over the years I have done many weddings and its several ballrooms. The most beautiful of all is of course the Crystal Ballroom located on top of the beautiful venue and overlooking the downtown Toronto. It is also one of the most sought after banquet halls in the GTA and impresses through its elegance and classic charm. This along with Casa Loma to rank the highest among the brides top locations to get married in the city. Another beautiful ballroom is Vanity Fare were I also photographed quite a few marriages. Last and also stunning, the sovereign ballroom impresses couples and guests through its beautifully adorned walls and ceiling and is the perfect spot to tie the knot regardless of the season.
When the couple told me that they are getting married at King Eddie, I was super excited. I know the location inside out and despite having shot a few dozen marriages there, I always approach the big day with a fresh eye and try to get a new perspective in the visual essay. After all, my clients don't hire me to replicate the photographs that I have done in the past but the rather to come up with fresh ideas and unique concepts.
As a professional wedding photographer, I draw inspiration from fashion magazines and yes I do read Vogue magazine despite the fact that I'm a man. Fashion editorials are often so edgy that by adopting or mimicking them, the wedding photographer can raise above the crowd.
On this big day, I asked the beautiful bride and groom to follow me around the hotel where I took a variety of photographs ranging from traditional to formal and funny. This is a dynamic image featuring the bride and groom clapping and dancing. Their facial expressions are of pure joy which makes this image stand out.
